Old DWI Conviction Vacated May 2, 2008

Hello everyone,

Sometimes a driver walks into court and pleads guilty without knowing all of the rights he or she is giving up, or without any awareness of the direct and collateral consequences of a DWI conviction. Many times the legislature changes the law on DWI penalties after a driver's conviction, which can have a serious adverse after-effect on the driver.

It is sometimes worthwhile to explore the possibility of vacating an old prior DWI conviction, particularly if the driver was unaware of the consequences of the plea, or unaware of the rights that the driver gave up when he or she pleaded.
